Dr. Travis J. Kemp is an Idaho native who grew up in Boise where he graduated from Borah High School in 1996. From there he attended the University of Utah where he received degrees in Biology and Chemistry, graduating in 2000.
Dr. Kemp then attended four years of medical school at New York Medical College where he graduated in 2004 with honors, including election into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
He went on to complete a Five-year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at New York Medical College, graduating in 2009.
In 2010, He completed a one year foot and ankle fellowship under the direction of Dr. Michael J. Coughlin at the Idaho Foot and Ankle Fellowship, and was in practice with Dr. Coughlin for three years.
In the summer of 2010 he took part in a traveling fellowship working with the leaders in Orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery. This fellowship took him to Portland, Oregon to work with Douglas Beaman, MD, Chicago, Illinois to work with Michael Pinzur, MD, Los Angeles California to work with Richard Ferkel, MD, and Charlotte, North Carolina to work with Çarroll P. Jones, MD. During this traveling fellowship he studied advanced external fixation as well as foot and ankle arthroscopy.
In 2011, he furthered his advanced training in external fixation with Dr. Franz Birkholtz in South Africa focusing on deformity correction with an emphasis on trauma applications of the Taylor Spatial Frame.
In 2012, Dr. Kemp became board certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons after passing the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery's rigorous examination.
In 2013 he went into private practice, joining Allied Orthopaedics.
His clinical interests include complex lower extremity deformities and the use of external fixation for gradual correction of those deformities. He has undergone training in the use of the Taylor Spatial Frame, as well as multiple other external fixation systems. He also has advanced training in limb lengthening using the Precise Intramedullary Nail. Other interests included foot and ankle arthroscopy and general foot and ankle conditions. He also takes general orthopaedic call and is experienced in the treatment of orthopedic trauma.
Dr. Travis Kemp is very excited to be back in his home town of Boise, Idaho practicing orthopedic surgery, and hopes to provide advanced and compassionate care to his patients and fellow Idahoans.
He is an avid outdoorsman and participates in mountain biking, road cycling, downhill snow skiing, and hiking. Other interests include computers and technology, especially as they relate to medicine.
